The Office of Sustainability is a City-led effort to create a healthier, greener, and more resilient city for all residents. The Office of Sustainability works with municipal departments, the Newark Environmental Commission, residents, and other public and private stakeholders to tackle environmental health and quality of life issues and to prepare our city for weather extremes to advance sustainability and climate resilience in Newark through a multi-pronged strategy.
United Parks As One is a citywide alliance of neighborhood-based park, playground, and garden advocates dedicated to the creation, stewardship, and activation of open spaces for the benefit of Newark residents and communities.
The Lemonaid Foundation for Endometriosis provides workshops that educate women and the larger community about endometriosis. We also provide resources through our website, and we host a biweekly virtual support group open to women around the country. We distribute care packages that contain laundry detergent and feminine care products, as women with endometriosis spend exponentially more on these items as a result of abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding. We host an annual health fair and conference that educates women on the warning signs of endometriosis, and we partner with other health organizations to provide the community with access to health resources such as COVID tests, blood pressure screening, diabetes, screening, and HIV testing. We also provide a support system for women and their families as they navigate the difficult course of finding endometriosis specialists to treat their condition.
DEP’s Office of Environmental Justice (OEJ) aims to improve the quality of life in New Jersey’s most vulnerable communities by educating and empowering communities who are often outside of government decision-making processes and guiding DEP’s programs and other state departments and agencies in implementing environmental justice.
The South Ward Environmental Alliance (SWEA) is an alliance of residents and community-based organizations with a focus on environmental justice issues in the South Ward of Newark, New Jersey. SWEA's mission is to cultivate healthy and vibrant neighborhoods by ensuring residents' voices are heard and they are active participants in decision making policies that impact their neighborhood. South Ward Environmental Alliance will cultivate residents to be: Informed, Empowered and Engaged on key environmental issues that impact their health and quality of life.

One Young African is an EdTech company that uses storytelling to communicate complex ideas like climate change and mental health into the education industry. Currently, we have collaborated with US Green building council to educate students using flash cards to understand the thematic focus of climate change and why they have to be involved in the conversation.
As a dedicated massage therapist, I offer a range of services, including full body massages, both home-based and at a secondary location. At the event, I will provide relaxing chair massages and sell my homemade face and body oil, crafted to nourish and rejuvenate the skin. My goal is to eventually save enough to have my own space where I can fully provide my services. Slowly but surely, I am working towards this dream, confident that with hard work and dedication, I will get there. The Newark Park Equity Project is a "TPL" (Trust for Public Land) plan to connect Newark's greenspaces. This program connects community members and leaders to draft a comprehensive, city-wide roadmap for parks and greenspaces to connect them and keep them well-serviced.
The Newark Community Schoolyard Garden Program is an extension of "TPL" (Trust For Public Land) Newark partnering with the NBOE, donors, and local urban agriculturalists to address food insecurity at public schools in the Newark area. This program aims to connect students to nature and culturally relevant nutrition and food lessons, allows them to explore careers in urban agriculture, and creates a framework for systematic change within the food network of Newark Public Schools.
The New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance is an alliance of New Jersey-based organizations and individuals working together to identify, prevent, and reduce and/or eliminate environmental injustices that exist in communities of color and low-income communities. NJEJA will support community efforts to remediate and rebuild impacted neighborhoods, using the community’s vision of improvement, through education, advocacy, the review and promulgation of public policies, training, and through organizing and technical assistance.

Newark DIG (Doing Infrastructure Green), established in 2013, is committed to continuously improving the quality of life, health, and viability of the City of Newark and its residents through the use of strategic collaborative methods including: community-driven urban design, public policy planning, environmental and social justice advocacy, education, and local capacity building. Our primary goal is the establishment of sustainable green infrastructure as the first line of defense to better manage stormwater runoff, improve water quality and resiliency to flooding, and reduce combined sewer overflows (CSOs), with a focus on the Passaic River and its tributaries.

We provide resources such as produce at our urban farm, inform community members about what's happening in the neighborhood, and provide a space and tools needed for folks to advocate for themselves.
CNR was established in 2012 to foster sensible approaches for environmental and energy resource utilization. The Center’s specialties include assessment and remediation studies of pollution in natural settings, and evaluation of natural resources for potential production of energy, especially the production of renewable energy. The Center for Natural Resources conducts studies ranging from the microscopic scale to the landscape scale and utilizes advanced networks of sensors.

The Coalition for Healthy Food in Newark Schools is a collective impact group that is fostering community partnership, breaking down barriers, and building bridges in the pursuit of a healthier future for the children of Newark by way of school -based meals and beyond.
Java’s Compost helps make sustainability easy and fun by providing tools and opportunities for people to reduce their food waste. We provide residential and commercial pick up services, compost drop off locations, as well as composting consultations. Members can watch their impact in real time, with weekly updated diversion stats on the amount of food their household diverted. The food waste we collect is recycled via composting. This reduces the amount of waste produced and sent to landfills or incinerators, which are sources of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Composting closes the supply chain loop (that eliminates waste) and allows for food to enrich our soils resulting in healthier crops, plants, and environments.
We are chapter of grassroots EVA and we advocate for accelerated adoption of EVs through education and demonstration. Our volunteers bring their own EVs to show them off to event attendees and they share their experience driving electric. We can provide power from EV to run podium, music band, lights and even food trucks.

As a nonprofit organization operating in Newark, New Jersey, It’s All About the Seniors and Kids (IAASK) is a full-service resource to those experiencing challenges, barriers, and/or hardships accessing regularly needed self care and/or an avenue toward a cosmetology education. IAASK is an alternative solution and valuable resource to communities in need.
